Cannabidiol also is known as CBD is a non-intoxicating cannabinoid found within the flowers of the Cannabis plant. For some years, CBD has taken a back-seat to THC, the compound found in Cannabis which gives you the ‘high’.
However, there has been a surge in scientific research into CBD which is taking place all over the world and we predict that over the next 5 years there will be a huge rise in the number of people using this amazing substance.
CBD is legal in the UK as long as it does not contain THC. (THC is a controlled substance also from the Cannabis plant).

CBD is also a permitted substance on professional athletes drug tests, listed by WADA and Global Dro since January 2018.

We recommend taking caution before travelling and taking Raw CBD outside of EU countries.

What is raw CBD?

In the UK CBD oil is sold under many names that all derive from pure cannabis extract. However, raw CBD is not the same as pure cbd oil or raw hemp oil. Their full contents and the extraction methods is what sets raw CBD oil apart from the other cannabis oils. Raw CBD is also known as full-spectrum CBD, which is extracted using a Co2 removal process to ensure the full spectrum of substances is collected from the plant.

How does CBD work and what is the Endocannabinoid System?

Your Endocannabinoid System (ECS) is a physiological system that produces cannabinoids which help to regulate many of our body's vital functions. It’s a complex system that experts claim plays a vital role in supporting sleep, mood, appetite, memory, reproduction and fertility via your CB1 and CB2 receptors. The result alters on where the receptor is located in your body and which cannabinoid it binds to: CB1 receptors, which are found more commonly in the central nervous system, and your CB2 receptors, which are more in your peripheral nervous system, especially immune cells

Is full spectrum CBD better?

Some will tell you that full spectrum is the best CBD in the UK. Well we can’t say it works better than other CBD oils as this really depends on your reason for using it. However, when it’s produced as raw cbd oil, we're talking about the full spectrum of CBD components that can be taken from the cannabis plant. Pure (aka CBD isolate) is simply the CBD on it’s own - whereas full spectrum allows you to receive the widest range of cannabinoids possible, producing a combined synergy, also known as the entourage effect.

What is in full spectrum CBD?

Full spectrum CBD keeps all vitamins and minerals within, as well as the full range of cannabinoids. This includes CBDA, CBC and CBN. You’ll also find that some brands have small traces of THC, while some are THC free - however we wouldn’t class this as raw CBD because the THC contributes to the entourage effect offered by the full spectrum of cannabinoids. While raw CBD in the UK only contains less than 0.02% (by law), it is enough to make a difference.

Does raw CBD get you high?

No, CBD can’t get you high - just high on life! If you’re worried about experiencing any psychoactive effects then you’ll be glad to know that the THC levels are so low that it would be impossible to feel intoxicated. We are often saddened by the stigma around CBD, because of it’s THC contents and the obvious leaf symbol - however, you’ll find many health experts advocating it, plus a range of sports people. What do people use raw CBD for?

As you can imagine, with the range of methods you can consume CBD and the number of products that it can be infused into - there are many ways that people use CBD in their daily lives. Checkout below some of the reasons our customers use raw CBD.

CBD and Fitness

CBD for fitness is a popular topic for our customers because many of us who are looking after our internal wellbeing are often conscious about our physical health too. This raises the question of whether CBD is used to enhance sport performance and if you would take CBD to the gym.

CBD Oil Post-Workout

Taking CBD for recovery, say after hitting the gym, is the more ideal time to take CBD rather than before. This is because with the CBD oils it is usually advised to be taken underneath your tongue (sublingually). This is the most biodiverse method of consuming a CBD supplement, as none is lost through the digestion process. It is also considered as ‘mid-fast releasing’ in terms of how long it takes to feel the effects of CBD. The claimed effects of CBD after exercise are generally stemming from inflammation relief, which many PT’s would recommend for recovery post-workout.

CBD Oil Before Exercise

Generally speaking, after exercise is when most people want to get the effects of CBD following a workout. However, depending on your consumption methods, if you decide to eat the CBD oil as part of a meal, you would find a slower releasing effect from about 2 hours after. This means you could do this a couple of hours before you plan to finish your workout.

Other than that, many people are using CBD as part of their bedtime routine which is based around the idea that better sleep means better rest. This can help with things like protein synthesis and again, to aid recovery prior to leg day.

CBD Oil for ME / Chronic Fatigue Syndrome

Because CBD engages with the brains CB2 receptors which are responsible for sleep regulation,

CBD is being used by a significant number of people who suffer from fatigue such as ME and CFS. Symptoms of these conditions include inflammation and insomnia and can be very demanding towards those who have to live with it. While CBD cannot be prescribed to these patients, there is no recognised cure or solution for ME/CFS either, and many of their sufferers are looking for other alternatives to the current treatments.

CBD Oil for Weight Loss UK

Were often asked if it's possible to get the munchies from CBD as this is often associated with being high, which is often related to the cannabis plant. However, studies show that this reaction is tied with consuming high levels of THC (the psychoactive element of cannabis), as this is an agonist of CB1 receptors, usually found in the central nervous system and the brain. CBD, however, is an antagonist of CB1 receptors, which is why CBD is considered to suppress the possibility of a higher appetite, associated with overeating and obesity.

Best CBD Oil for Anxiety / Depression

Anxiety comes in many shapes and forms, for example PTSD and SAD, which are likely to have stemmed from varied experiences and have different symptoms / treatments. While CBD cannot be prescribed in the UK as a treatment for anxiety, it has shown signs of reducing stress and slowing the heart rate in animals such as rats, however, more research needs to be done on the condition within humans themselves. With that being said, it's best to note here that full spectrum CBD, when it's totally raw, maintains the ability to create an entourage effect between the various extra compounds that can’t be found in CBD isolate. The combination between several terpenes has been shown to combat anxiety in some cases but cannot be said for other types of CBD that aren’t raw / full spectrum CBD.

CBD for Pain

Many CBD users around the UK have found ways to relieve themselves of chronic pain, specifically where reducing inflammation is needed. As CBD is very rich in antioxidants, those who consume are able to get an instant lift in a range of essential vitamins, minerals - and as antioxidants are capable of breaking down free radicals, relief can be obtained after just 20 minutes when taken under the tongue.

CBD Dosage Guide

A few things to remember here: there is no “1 size fits all” with raw CBD. Even full spectrum CBD comes in a variety of strengths and ways to consume. Also, things like your weight, and body chemistry will have an effect on your body's response to CBD, not to mention the fact that your endocannabinoid system changes over time. Trial and error may be required, and sometimes it can take a month of regular use before your body can adopt it to the full extent.

Here is our small CBD dosage guide to help you understand how much CBD to take at a time, and at the very least, a starting point to test out depending on the severity of your condition.

Severity vs Weight -25 lbs 26-45 lbs 46-85 lbs 86-150 lbs 151-240 lbs 241 lbs +
None/Low 4.5mg 6mg 9mg 12mg 18mg 22.5mg
Medium 6mg 9mg 12mg 15mg 22.5mg 30mg
Severe 9mg 12mg 15mg 18mg 27mgs 45mg
Taking CBD drops from a tincture will provide you with about 0.05ml of oil, which means that for our 10ml bottles, each has around 200 drops. For our 500mg bottles, this means that each droplet contains roughly 2mg and our 1000mg contains roughly 4mg of raw CBD per drop.

So lets say your daily dosage is only around 6mg, then you should only take three drops daily, and spread out throughout the day - not all at once!

We hope you can find a way to make full spectrum CBD work for you! Just contact us for any more information on our products or guidance on CBD strength and dosage.
